My Mother’s sacrifice inspired me to become Entrepreneur – SHARAT BABU
It was an inspiring afternoon for the students from various colleges gathered at Sri Satya Sai Study Circle, Abids, where they heard the motivating speech of Mr.Sharat Babu, who was honored as Youth Icon by Pepsico and MTV.
Video screening of the talk by Mr.Sharat Babu on ‘Fulfilling your Dreams’ at Ramakrishna Math, Pune, inspired students to the core, if we consider the feedback which was shared by them.
Excerpts from his speech:
‘My mother used to drink lots of water during night and I thought that she likes water very much. Actually, she has given us all the food for that day and there is nothing to eat for her. Her sacrifice is beyond worth of just my tears. I want to become Entrepreneur and create more and more Entrepreneurs. As I was awarded Youth Icon of the Year by Pepsico and MTV, it has become my responsibility to talk to people like you. One day when I was coming out of a temple and getting into my car, an old lady aged 80 years, came to me begging. I have given her some money and she tried to bend and touch my feet. I felt ashamed and even if she doesn’t ask me money, I am ready to give her some fifty rupees. Youth like us should work hard to help this kind of people in the Society, where then can live with respect. You have to respect your parents. You have to respect elders. After working hard and studying even without a square meal for day to complete my engineering, I wish to pursue my PGPM in IIM-A, but again there will not be any income to feed my family for nearly two years. Even then, my mother agreed to pursue my dreams and goals. Though I got call from all six IIMs, I have chosen to study in IIM-A to realize my goals. I have started Food King Restaurant, which was inaugurated by none other than Shri Narayana Murthy, Chief Mentor of Infosys, in IIM-A Campus. I do not have money to start this venture. I just got Rs.2000/- with me and borrowed a lakh or two from my friends. My first contract was to supply 25 tea cups morning and evening to a software company. It was a failure as I could not do it. Finally, I could make it and today standing in front of you. When you fail, you have to work hard and hard to fulfill your dreams. Even though I am a first class, I was made to stand out of the class room as I could not pay the fee. What I have to do? Though I got first class, I have faced this situation. Nobody is to be blamed. I heard classes standing outside and excelled in the exams once again. My teachers helped me to come out of this problem. Respect your Teachers. When I came to know that 33 crores of people were below poverty line and suffering from hunger, I felt that I do not have right to eat. I want to work for those downtrodden and resolved to become Entrepreneur to create more and more Entrepreneurs to fulfill my dreams. Focus on your goals. Live your dreams. Never say die. Think big and serve Society through whatever you do for your living. Think beyond. Nothing is impossible.’
Mr.Sharath Babu concluded his speech inspiring the students from all walks of life. The program concluded with feedback from the students with inspiring response.
Sri P.V.Sastry, Convenor in his concluding remarks said that, ‘Swami’ declared this year as ‘Year of Parenting’ and the video screening also very relevant to the theme of this year.
